Julia Blume looks for “breaking points” in historical depictions of nature, and explores them through painting, installation, and performance. She utilizes both personal imagery based on her own experiences in wilderness, and imagery from some of the first women to work as artists in scientific expeditions. Julia received her MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. She has exhibited in New York, San Francisco, and Tucson, and has created site-specific installations in wilderness areas across the American Southwest.
