…Looking and “seeing“ is an intentional act. My hope is that you, as the perceiver of my “quilt art” will also find a sense of rhythm, balance, and wonder. Julia Muench
Julia Muench is a multidisciplinary, visionary artist and creator, based in Leonardo, New Jersey. She welcomes commissions.
Julia spent her youth growing up in the South Miami area, and has lived in Monmouth County since 1995. Her deep interest in, and the study of how nature works, is a constant inspiration for her artwork. Her lifelong study of world cultures, classical music and dance is also seen as a strong influence on her creativity.
…I am very conscious about the materials I use in my work. I use scraps and repurposed fabric, as much as possible, and incorporate sustainable materials such as hemp and linen, fabrics which use much less water in the growing process. I love the tactile-ness of working with certain materials and the woven quality, which makes it somewhat flexible, yet able to maintain it’s shape….
Julia creates her vibrant fiber canvases or “textile constructions” in three layers, with embroidery, quilting, and sometimes hand sewn-beading, inside the top layer. Some of her larger pieces can take up to several months to create. For more info, you may go to:
