Karen Jones started painting over 20 years ago. Her great grandfather emigrated from Germany, and settled in Brooklyn, NY. He was both an illustrator and artist, and was employed as an architect on the design of the Charles Schwab mansion on Riverside Drive in Manhattan. Karen's father was also an artist, practicing "photoengraving":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photoengraving. With her own work, Karen attempts to create a serenity and solitude so difficult to find in today's rapidly changing world.
Karen received her training at both the MFA School and Art Institute in Boston. She is an active member of the Newburyport, Concord and Marblehead Art associations and she has been teaching pastels at the Newburyport Art Association and giving private lessons for several years. Karen's paintings are included in several corporate collections including Fidelity Investments, the Whitehead Institute at MIT, and Boston Edison.
