42nd Street car trails

Piece description from the artist

Sometimes luck plays a big part in a successful photograph. In this case, we had taken our grand-daughter to New York City and I was wondering what I could photograph that was close to the hotel and in doing my bit of research (while actually there), I found out that Manhattanhenge took place that evening and I could walk to this spot overlooking 42nd street. This was taken after the sun had set, but I still thought that it made a dramatic image of the busy city with a lovely orange glow in the sky.

About Steven Heap

Morgantown, WV

Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
