People scaling Great Sand Dunes National Park

Piece description from the artist

The Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado is a stunning landscape of contrasts and curves. The sand dunes, sculpted by wind and water, rise up to 750 feet above the valley floor, creating a dramatic backdrop for the blue sky. The dunes are not only beautiful, but also sensual, inviting the viewer to explore their shapes and textures. In this image, I captured the essence of the dunes' sensuality, using the sunlight to create shadows and highlights that accentuate their curves. The tiny people on the sand provide a sense of scale and perspective, showing how vast and majestic the dunes are.

About Steven Heap

Morgantown, WV

Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
