Piece description from the artist
Cucumber Falls in the Ohiopyle State Park in Pennsylvania is well hidden from the sun and so the ice stays well into the spring. This image taken on a cold March day with a long exposure allows the flowing water to almost appear like a spotlight from directly above lighting the icy rocks before splashing on into the river. I think it provides an abstract image that needs some consideration to see what is being pictured.
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
