Bubbling Up

Piece description from the artist

In this piece I wanted to try a more muted palette than other paintings in this series. They all are based on vintage toys which I find appealing as a subject as they seem to have emotional power and suggest to me the idea of moving through time. They strike a chord, with notes of nostalgia, sadness, fear, and laughter. I have a profound interest in memory and reflections on childhood. The most influential time in one's life.
This abstraction from childhood objects takes them away from the literal, suggesting our own unique experiences. It serves as a metaphor leading to our personal interpretations of their meaning, bringing past and present together in one expansive, dream-like space.
