Piece description from the artist
Getting a view of Washington DC at cherry blossom time without people in the frame is quite difficult! The trick is to be there at dawn and then wait very patiently for a gap in the human traffic to appear. This was taken shortly after the opening of the new Martin Luther King Jr. monument in DC and I thought this cherry tree branch nicely framed the scene.
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
