Piece description from the artist
Cloud Series:
Clouds and the sky. These elements we sometimes take for granted. Like grains of sand or human fingerprints, all clouds are unique – no two cloudscapes are alike.
Even if the land and sea remain the same, the sky is an ever-changing pallet of shapes and colors. With this project I never feature a foreground or background point of reference.
Matt Gragg's experience spans over 40 years. He grew up in Colorado and studied fine art photography in Banff, Canada in the 1970s where he learned aspects of the Zone System for visualization and black and white exposure and development, and Dye Transfer color printing.
Later he received his degree in journalism in the photojournalism sequence at the University of Missouri – Columbia.
Much has changed technologically since that time. What hasn’t changed is his vision or approach to sharing the earthly narrative.
Mr. Gragg is passionate about exploring the fine details of nature that some might take for granted. He also believes we must take extreme care of nature and supports conservation efforts from his second home in state of Hawaii and elsewhere.
