Piece description from the artist
Up to 30 thin layers of blended oil and wax are applied with a palette knife, spatula and brayer on a wood panel. Each layer is scratched, scraped and incised with carving tools and whisks for texture and interest. The original painting was commissioned by a collector in Richmond, VA. The painting is displayed over the living room fireplace. Also in the room are a dark red Asian rug and ocher-colored, wooden sculptures displayed on the bookshelves.
