Piece description from the artist
Street photography isn't my first love, but this woman was meant to be captured by a lens. The way she moved through the crowd of people on this busy New York street, the way she was dressed, all signified that she was out of place. This is not because of anything other than her existing in another world, a world of her own. She was far apart from those surrounding her in the way she carried herself, she stuck out like a diamond would in mud.
Vanessa 'Venusian' Edwards is a Brooklyn-based visual artist, photographer, and Temple alumna who thrives on color, concept, and creativity. Through visually stimulating editing, she loves to emphasize the aspect of story and human emotion in any single photograph. Her favorite saying regarding her work is "human emotion is a lost art", which is something she aims to capture in every shot.
Today she is collaborating with brands and artists across industries to bring visionary ideas to life, exploring herbology and the ceremony of drinking tea, and exploring somatic movement through practice and performance.
