Dawn pastel colors light up the clouds and sky over the tidal salt marsh in Charleston, South Carolina. Soft colors and impasto and impressionist brushstrokes give this painting a dreamy quality to it.
April is heavily influenced by the classical impressionists but strives to bring about elements of expressionism as well into her paintings. She uses color fearlessly and is always striving to "capture the light". April wants her paintings to invoke the feelings of her subjects and especially the wild feelings of being out of doors surrounded by the beauty of nature.
