"Free Spirit" is a gritty, richly textured Acrylic on canvas of a white/gray horse. The horse's bold shape takes up most of this 30 by 30-inch canvas emphasizing its forward motion. I created texture and built up the form of the horse by using mortar, sand, Acrylic gels, and molding paste. The layers of colors under the warm grays and white are visible here and there, hinting at how this painting evolved. In the end, I decided on mostly a monochrome piece.
The natural world and her love for animals inspire Dara Daniel's Acrylic on canvas, mixed-media paintings. She combines bold colors and shapes and lots of textures to create fun, playful interpretations of horses and other animal spirits.
For all her paintings, she combines all the available elements of design to express rhythms and energy and moods and emotion. Dara explains, "Each painting experience is unique yet, my goal for all my paintings is to capture a degree of nature's passionate spirit, joy, and beauty."
