Friends

Piece description from the artist

“Friends” is a composition of two horses. One is golden in color and the other poised next to it is red. The golden horse is more forward then the red horse giving a sense of depth to this painting. The different colors, personalities, and stances of each horse were inspirational to paint this piece, and I wanted to convey the trusting relationship these horses seem to share.
To begin, I first applied a coat of Acrylic paste with a fine grainy texture to the surface of the canvas. Once dried I then painted the surface with of red paint to help the following colors to pop, and the viewer can see the underlying red here and there. To contrast the warm colors of the horses and foreground I choose a vibrant blue/green background with variations in color.
