Piece description from the artist
Frozen motion view of raging water flowing over rocks of Valley Falls State Park on Tygart River near Fairmont in West Virginia. For this very abstract view of a waterfall, I used a long telephoto lens to focus in on a small part of the falls, and then used a 1/6400 second exposure time to freeze all the water as though it was made of ice to show what really was happening in the normal blur of water flowing over rocks.
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
