Piece description from the artist
Illuminated Ferris wheel at National Harbor near the nation capital of Washington DC at sunset. This was a perfectly calm night and I was out and about with my camera and tripod to capture the dying light of the late November day and the reflections of the Ferris Wheel caught my eye. By choosing a 2.5 second shutter speed, I was able to just blur the moving wheel enough to create some colorful spokes of the wheel and also have a recognizable reflection in the water.
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
