Flying Away

Piece description from the artist

Highly detailed macro image of the seed pod from Swamp Milkweed flower, Asclepias incarnata, which has wispy windblown feathery strands attached to brown seeds that are carefully aligned in the shell. After opening the seed pod, the seeds begin to separate ready for the wind to take them aloft and I carefully took many images of different slices of the pod and combined them all to create a final print that is in focus from front to rear.

About Steven Heap

Morgantown, WV

Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
