Piece description from the artist
As a newcomer to Texas, I am constantly learning new things and this scene of swimmers on New Year's Eve swimming outdoors was a surprise! The city skyline of Austin dominates the scene above the swimming pool which is fed from the 70 degree water from Barton Springs in Zilker metropolitan park. The reflection of the setting sun on the buildings and then onto the water surface makes it even more memorable.
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
