This famous bronze statue of the musician Stevie Ray Vaughan was created by Ralph Helmick and installed in 1994 in Austin, Texas. This position by the Colorado river in downtown is made clearer in the winter when the trees are bare and I thought this time of year made for a more telling photograph of the statue and its location.
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
