Resisting the flow

Piece description from the artist

Heavily flooded Tygart River flows in smooth slow-motion image over waterfall in Valley Falls State Park West Virginia. With a 2.5 second exposure, most of the detail in the fast-moving water is removed, but I was intrigued with the log and its twigs resisting the massive pressure of the water and stubbornly remaining in place. I thought it was an interesting illustration of our power to resist strong forces if we believe we can do it!

About Steven Heap

Morgantown, WV

Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
