Piece description from the artist
Watching the sun descend across a low country marsh is truly a glorious thing to behold. The sky constantly shifts its color palettes from bright and warm to soft pastels and then finally the periwinkle of evening. In this painting I tried to capture the most beautiful melon color of orange that we often see in the low country. The delicious color is always accompanied by its perfect compliment; periwinkle.
April is heavily influenced by the classical impressionists but strives to bring about elements of expressionism as well into her paintings. She uses color fearlessly and is always striving to "capture the light". April wants her paintings to invoke the feelings of her subjects and especially the wild feelings of being out of doors surrounded by the beauty of nature.
