Piece description from the artist
The final rappel to complete the exploration of Neon Canyon into the Golden Cathedral is an all encompassing experience. After weaving our way through the narrow confines of the slot canyon, we knew this famous final rappel awaited. Many experiences in life occur within the regular space that we occupy: working at our desk, driving in our car, walking the streets of our neighborhood. What gives the Golden Cathedral such power-of-moment is how rare of a space it allows the canyoneer to experience. For mere minutes of your life, you find yourself dangling upon a rope within this amazingly unlikely natural creation. The stimulus input is immense, so it is difficult to breathe in the uniqueness of the situation. After we all descended, packed up, and headed back to camp… the moment was gone. You are left wondering… will I ever experience that space again?
