Piece description from the artist
A tiny farmhouse, long ago abandoned, stands in almost complete isolation on the snow covered plains of central Montana. These simple landscapes of the American West create an almost ethereal feeling of floating between two worlds when the land and sky begin to blend together in the horizon. In the bright white of a winter day, the horizon begins to merge with the white of the receding storm clouds. I love to photograph the wide open spaces of the American West, where the size of the landscape makes the viewer feel the enormity of the sky and earth.
Annie was born and raised in Montana, growing up on her family's ranch in the beautiful Smith River Valley. Growing up in Montana's wild and beautiful Landscape led to her deep love of nature and all things rural. Annie attended the Art Institute of Colorado and lived in Denver Colorado until the completion of her Interior Design degree in 2002. After working in that field for several years, Annie moved back to Montana and began her own business, focusing on her ever-growing love of photography. She began traveling the backroads and wilderness of Montana and the Rocky Mountain region and selling her photos professionally in galleries, shops, and online. She primarily searches for rural Landscapes, old barns, abandoned farmhouses, and occasionally wildlife she encounters. Her work as been featured in HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens, and featured in three books on emerging artists of the United States. She currently lives in Billings, Montana, and takes several trips during the year to gather new images.
