Piece description from the artist
The Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC is a pleasure to behold, but you need to get there early to get the best view. This was taken before dawn and there wasn't a bright sun lighting up the scene, but the contrast of the floodlit Jefferson Memorial and the blossoms gives a nice calm feeling to a famous scene.
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
