Piece description from the artist
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
In 2014 I had the honor of participating in the wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. This was both a highlight of my time in transportation as well as a veteran. It was a surreal experience watching a young service member honor those that made the ultimate sacrifice and one I felt called to paint.
Grzadzielewski, a self-taught painter, favors acrylics with spurts into watercolors. Her broad strokes in an impressionist style create a sense of movement and life. The central theme of her work, buildings and homes, captures the engagement between people and their environments. Her art not only illustrates structures, but also absorbs and reflects the community's energy.
