Manhattanhenge in New York City

Piece description from the artist

Manhattanhenge is a twice a year event in New York City when the setting sun aligns perfectly with the street layout of the city. One of the best places to see it is from a bridge above 42nd Street and I just happened to be in the city on that evening, close enough to walk to the location and with a weather forecast that suggested the sun would not be obscured by clouds. This image is the result!

About Steven Heap

Morgantown, WV

Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
