We love to stay in Alexandria in Virginia at least once a year to both visit the restaurants and stroll around the old town. Walking in the opposite direction, I noticed the sky behind the George Washington Masonic National Memorial on the hill overlooking downtown and captured this view of the temple with the gentle lights of the setting sun on the clouds behind the magnificent building.
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
