Piece description from the artist
McSorley's Old Ale House claims to be the oldest bar in New York City. In 1954 it celebrated its 100th anniversary and I believe bits of sawdust from the early days remain on the floor to this day. The front room has the original pot-bellied stove, and reproductions of all 14 of John Sloan's paintings of the saloon are framed and hung on the back room wall along with the American flag. Beers come by twos along with cheese and saltines.
