Piece description from the artist
The harvest moon rises over the monuments of Washington DC in this minimalistic view of the capital. The view from the Netherlands Catillion provides the best view of the event as you can see the monument and capitol building lined up and a telephoto lens compresses the view to make it appear that they are side by side. This is the best of the many shots I have attempted from this location!
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
