Piece description from the artist
"This was an exploration of female icons as I discovered the work of Nancy Spero. I am still very unsure of the findings, but it probably has to do with the fact that my dad was the one who made my school lunches and until I was about ten years old, I just assumed women played professional sports too."
Mari Silipo spent her early childhood living by the sea, later moved to the cornfields of Western Massachusetts, and, after a brief pit-stop in Venice, Italy now resides in Boston, MA. This body of work captures Mari’s always whimsical, often melancholy eye; mediations on our sky, her pieces force their viewer to keep their eye out for the unexpected.
