This beautiful painting of Queen Nefertiti was inspired by a bust made in her likeness thousands of years ago. As I stared at her beautiful features, I tried to imagine how she would look today and created this portrait. I added the flowers to her head piece to soften the austerity of her royal crown. I wonder if she ever had the opportunity to laugh at silly things, behind the vale of her royal facade?
Raised in Zimbabwe and transplanted to the United States as a teenager, Roger has learned to straddle different worlds and cultures. His unique artistic style reflects his diverse background and myriad cultural influences.
As I turn around and prepare to leave the party, my paintings are celebrations of the last things I’ve observed.
