This piece was inspired by a favorite humor book of mine, "The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists" by Gideon Defoe. It is a whimsical, colorful take on the beloved and feared Pirate Captain of the book and various characters throughout, including Bobo the man-panzee. This piece is perfect for anyone who loves pirates, beards, humor, or the sea. A must for anyone with a nautical art collection.
Ashley Freeland is an illustrator, painter, and graphic designer living in Boston, Massachusetts. She was inspired to paint by her grandfather, who himself was a painter. Her work has appeared in Boston's "The Weekly Dig" newspaper, Abstraks magazine, and has been exhibited in several shows throughout the Boston area. She is inspired by cats, humor, and food.
