“In the Moment” is one of a recent series of contemporary horse paintings. It is a painting of a single majestic horse in an expansive field of wildflowers in the high desert in Flagstaff, Arizona. Inspirational for this painting was the bold, simple shape of the horse. To enhance the negative space around the horse, I chose to simplify the background with a soft violet blue. In the foreground, I first applied the Acrylic paste to suggest the delicate petals of the yellow flowers. I also love how the horse in this photo seemed to be contemplative while enjoying the flowers hence the title.
The natural world and her love for animals inspire Dara Daniel's Acrylic on canvas, mixed-media paintings. She combines bold colors and shapes and lots of textures to create fun, playful interpretations of horses and other animal spirits.
