Colorado is rife with idyllic vistas. Along the Million Dollar Highway of southwestern Colorado, this location always spoke to me every time I made my way past it and into the high country. On an overcast autumn day, with the light diffusing through the cloud cover, the reflection on the water became a study in natural line and pattern. I knew the day was special, and I took the moment to record a scene that I had witnessed many times before, yet never in this way. The beauty of the scene is that we can impart our own narrative to the visage… and it is a narrative of peace and purpose.
Kevin Lange is a photographer living in central New Mexico. Born and bred a child of the "Four Corners":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Corners_Monument landscape, he explores the roots of "Western Expansionism":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manifest_destiny, and its role in the ever-evolving state of our existence.
