Purple Folly Morning

Piece description from the artist

A beautiful purple sunrise dawn in Folly Beach South Carolina, United States at the Morris Island Lighthouse. Standing beside a rock jetty that helps lead your eyes to the historic lighthouse. The purple and blue hues reflect on the water creating a whole scene of purple blissfulness. The lighthouse was built in 1876 and is on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. When it first opened, it was 1,200 from the edge of the water. Now it is surrounded by water several hundred feet off shore. In 1889 the construction of jetties leading to Charleston Harbor altered ocean currents, resulting in rapid erosion of Morris Island and many other historic structures. The Shoreline reached the lighthouse in 1938. In 1962 it was decommissioned. Now they use the nearby Sullivans Island lighthouse.
