Seagrass and Sand is a piece from a new series. I created this series to show the simplicity of the beach through light and textures by using only the color black. The end result was to capture all the beauty of the beach without the use of expected traditional colors. I wanted the paintings to draw the viewer in focusing on a beach view letting them place colors from their own memories and imagination. Pure, clear and simple was what I was thinking as I created the series, leaving the rest for the viewer to decide.
Karen is an artist for over 35 years. Prior to painting full-time – the artist worked in many creative fields in the design world. Living on the beach in CT, her work is influenced by the changing atmosphere and nature. She studied impressionism for 8 years. Her work is collected internationally and has been represented by many galleries throughout her career.
