The Ferris Wheel at National Harbor just outside Washington DC is a pleasure to watch, but just after sunset when the sky is still a darkening orange, it really shows its brilliance. Here I used a slow shutter speed to slightly blur the movement of the wheel and provide an even more colorful view of the attraction reflected in the water of the Potomac.
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
