Piece description from the artist
There are a plethora of metaphorical expressions that can be found when humans interact athletically with the natural environment. Sometimes it is enough to take in the beauty and feel the well being. Yet in a case like this, the action of capturing the photograph becomes the reality to the metaphor it expresses. As daylight was fading and funneling through the small canyon in Placitas where I was riding full speed, I did lap after lap of sprints into and out of frame, seeking the perfect composition. As it were, with lungs busting, legs aching, and arms trembling in maximum effort… the intensity I was putting forth matched the intensity of the light and the dust. For all its grandiose appearance, the reality is I suffered to make this image happen. Through the fire, indeed.
