Venus Over Crescent Moon

Piece description from the artist

It was a February night in North Carolina. I came home later than usual, carrying bags from the grocery store. I looked up to see the moon and gasped. Just a sliver of a crescent, but it was so bright, and the sky so clear, that I could clearly see the whole moon. And then just above, what I later learned, was Venus. There is a second planet off to the left too. The sky was so bright with stars, it felt like the bare tree branches were raising their limbs in reverance to the sky.

I couldn't help but paint it right away, using a mixed media approach of layering watercolors and alcohol inks.

I know the moon speaks to us all, in some mystical, and this painting is my way of expressing to the universe, that I hear the hints in my heart. I can't think them with thoughts, or write them with words, but I can get closer to them, through painting.

My hope is that this painting reminds you more, of who you really are.
