Piece description from the artist
As you stand on the edge of a 1,100-foot cliff at Goosenecks State Park in Mexican Hat, Utah, United States, you will find this breathtaking view striking. The San Juan River carves and curves its way through the rugged, rocky landscape, creating one of the most dramatic entrenched river meander gorges in North America. The carvings literally look like actual goose necks! From this vantage point, the river twists and turns through a series of tight, serpentine curves, flowing over six miles in distance while advancing just one and a half miles westward toward Lake Powell. The deep canyon walls and the sinuous path of the river showcase the immense power of geological forces, making this small but stunning park a true natural marvel.
