Piece description from the artist
An early evening image of the Washington Monument and Capitol seen from the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC with the solid marble columns of the memorial providing an interesting frame on a well-known DC scene. This was a little more complex because of the different lighting of the scene and also the issue of a very deep depth of focus needed, but I believe this image really captures the scene as I perceived it.
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
