Piece description from the artist
A pen and ink drawing of the famous Bates Hall reading room, located within the Boston Public Library, in Boston, Massachusetts. It is also called the Bates Reading Room. On a weekend day, when the colleges are in session, this room is packed with both students and Boston residents, lined up at the long wooden tables. Sketching this room took hours, and I collected a lot of attention as I drew as much as I could. The teeny lampshades are the classic library green glass, making the entire room seem filled with shamrocks. I decided to place the open dictionary on the cracked wooden table on the left, and draw just enough of it, so you could almost read the text within. Enjoy the art!
Conor Plunkett has lived in the greater Boston area for almost 50 years. His appreciation of the cityscapes, parks, sky lines, and local architecture has led him to focus his creative efforts on capturing them in pen and ink drawings. Conor's 'Boston Scenes' gallery continues to expand every month as he peruses Boston and Cambridge seeking new and interesting subjects to draw.
