Piece description from the artist
This drawing is of the gorgeous McKim Courtyard, located within the Boston Public Library at Copley Square. This courtyard is a hidden gem that many Bostonian’s have never even visited, or know that it exists. It resembles Boston's Gardner museum courtyard in many ways with Roman pillars and a jolly fountain in the middle. The statue depicts a Bacchante holding a faun and a bunch of grapes. This courtyard has been the site of hundreds of wedding ceremonies over the years. I drew this as part of my Boston Scenes gallery, because it is one of my favorite hidden places within the city.
Conor Plunkett has lived in the greater Boston area for almost 50 years. His appreciation of the cityscapes, parks, sky lines, and local architecture has led him to focus his creative efforts on capturing them in pen and ink drawings. Conor's 'Boston Scenes' gallery continues to expand every month as he peruses Boston and Cambridge seeking new and interesting subjects to draw.
