Piece description from the artist
A pen and ink drawing of Louisburg Square in the historic Beacon Hill Section of Boston, Massachusetts. Louisburg Square has become one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the US, with townhouses listing for over $15 million. What makes it an interesting subject matter to draw is the placement of brick buildings along the well-worn cobblestone street, with a lush, gated park situated in the middle of it all. Luminaries such as Senator John Kerry reside in the square. Previous residents include architect Charles Bulfinch, painter John Singleton Copley, and author Louisa May Alcott. Finding a way to draw the square without any parked cars was a challenge, but I believe it was worth it. Enjoy the art!
Conor Plunkett has lived in the greater Boston area for almost 50 years. His appreciation of the cityscapes, parks, sky lines, and local architecture has led him to focus his creative efforts on capturing them in pen and ink drawings. Conor's 'Boston Scenes' gallery continues to expand every month as he peruses Boston and Cambridge seeking new and interesting subjects to draw.
