Concordia

Piece description from the artist

Concordia is a dreamlike landscape that contemplates our symbiotic relationship with nature. We require the land, water and air for our survival and nature offers us abundance, but it is a complex relationship. Our relationship with the earth has become more parastic than sustaining.

Concordia explores ideas of degeneration and renewal, dry and wet, growth and decay. This is the delicate balancing act that our world requires to ensure our growth and survival.

Ultimately, Concordia is an artwork of hope. Hope that we can rebalance these opposites and sustain what is so precious. That trees will continue to grow and we will understand how to find our harmony with the world around us.

This is a TurningArt exclusive limited edition print available in editions of 100.

About Elizabeth Wood

Mount Manganui, New Zealand

Elizabeth is based in New Zealand, right near the beach. Being close to such a beautiful landscape provides the inspiration for her work, as she feels a strong connection to her local environment.

Elizabeth is interested in capturing the essence of a place through colour and brushstroke. Her artworks often use vivid colour palettes to capture the feelings experienced while being in nature.

Her painting style is constantly evolving. One of the consistent features is a fascination with colour and light and she works with a variety of different mediums to balance out the two, including gouache, watercolour, acrylic, oil paint and pastels.
