“In the Moonlight” is an Acrylic on canvas and is a close up of a horse’s face. I love the direct, gentle gaze of this horse and feel the light reflected in the eyes draws the viewer into this painting. Also, I enjoy it's simple, bold shape and the negative shapes around it.
The horse is the color of burnt sienna, and there is a soft light outlining the shape of the head and back of the neck and mane. I used a vivid orange combined with soft white for these highlights. To contrast the warm colors of the horse and to help establish a mood I chose rich tones of turquoise blues and deep violets for the background and shadows. To tone these bright colors down, I blended in a neutral gray.
