This explosion of dahlias explores texture and colour, and how the layering of bold colour can create a sumptuous experience fo the viewer. It is the partner piece to my other work 'Dahlia Blossoms'. It features the Labyrinth Dahlia.
Elizabeth is based in New Zealand, right near the beach. Being close to such a beautiful landscape provides the inspiration for her work, as she feels a strong connection to her local environment.
Elizabeth is interested in capturing the essence of a place through colour and brushstroke. Her artworks often use vivid colour palettes to capture the feelings experienced while being in nature.
Her painting style is constantly evolving. One of the consistent features is a fascination with colour and light and she works with a variety of different mediums to balance out the two, including gouache, watercolour, acrylic, oil paint and pastels.
