Digital impressionistic painting of the illuminated Ferris wheel known as the Capital Wheel at National Harbor near the nation's capital of Washington DC at sunset. The marina is in the foreground and the gorgeous colors of the clear sunset sky above the Potomac river give a vibrancy and sheer joy to this image. The original photo is impressive with a slow shutter speed to enhance the movement of the wheel, but I think this painted version has an extra something!
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot.
