A warm summer day with the clouds in the sky and the marsh alive with song on Skull Creek, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. April spent the day on the dock painting this piece en plein air.
April is heavily influenced by the classical impressionists but strives to bring about elements of expressionism as well into her paintings. She uses color fearlessly and is always striving to "capture the light". April wants her paintings to invoke the feelings of her subjects and especially the wild feelings of being out of doors surrounded by the beauty of nature.
