Untitled #6[Paper Doll Piece]

Piece description from the artist

My fascination with vintage toys now includes paper dolls. Using just silhouettes instead of image details abstract the figures making them more symbolic while the painted atmosphere evokes a sense of timelessness and memory. Narratives are suggested but not defined leaving interpretation completely open to the viewer.

I prefer paintings that offer suggestions instead of answers.

She then studied painting and drawing at the Art Student’s League of NY and at the New York Studio School before setting up her own painting studio.

Carolyn's work has been shown in one person, two person and group shows in various galleries and venues in NYC and beyond. She has had solo exhibitions at the Willoughby Sharpe Gallery in NYC, the Margaret Bodell Gallery in NYC, and M55 Art in LIC, NY. Recent exhibitions include a major two-person show at the Vit Gallery in Seoul, S. Korea (2011).
